Subject: Faculty Timesheet Update & February 4th Meeting Agenda
Update on President Farahi’s proposed timesheets for faculty and staff
KFT members will recall that the Farahi administration introduced a timesheet titled “Kean University Bi-Weekly Time and Attendance Record,”at the November local negotiations meeting. The administration indicated that it wanted to discuss the issue at the December negotiations meeting, but when that session came, the administration decided to take the timesheet issue off of the bargaining table.
In yet another reversal, the Farahi administration has reintroduced the timesheet concept as a newly revised form at last week’s negotiations session. Though the form is different, it carries with it the same implication of diminished professionalism and disdain for the work that our faculty and staff do for our students, our university and our professions that we do on a daily basis.
Once again, the KFT suggests that members tell their supervisors, the Deans, the Provost, the President, etc. how they feel about this proposal. While our sister institutions are bending over backwards to create academic environments that will attract high caliber faculty, staff and students, the Farahi administration continues to make Kean University the laughingstock of New Jersey’s public higher education system.
Chief Negotiator Charlie Kelly will have further information, including copies of the new timesheet, at this Thursday’s KFT General Membership Meeting for your review and comment. Your feedback is welcome and is key to the KFT leadership’s efforts to most effectively advocate for your professionalism at the negotiations table and elsewhere.
